‘Tis the Season in History to Let Go: Finding Gratitude in Chaos
This time of year, gratitude is on our minds. Often, it’s about counting blessings, but sometimes it’s also about letting go—of the past, of anger, guilt, aka “sh*t.” And here on this dog blog, sometimes it’s literal!
Life Can Be Chaotic—Ping! There It Goes Again
Ever felt like modern life, with its constant pings and notifications, is pulling you in too many directions? You’re not alone. From email alerts to reminders and social media feeds, it’s an exhausting cycle of information overload and comparison.
Ping… What was I doing? Right, back to the blog. Ping—calendar update. Ping—political news, ugh. Ping—forgot my tea in the other room! Meanwhile, I'm stressed, unfocused, and just feeling… over it.
Why We Need Our Dogs More Than Ever Right Now
While we stress and scroll, our dogs seem to have it all figured out. They’re fully present, joyful, and forgiving. They feel their emotions fully, whether it’s pure excitement (“Yes! We’re going to the park, and they brought the ball!”) or a bit of disappointment (“It must be dinnertime by now… right?”). The difference? Dogs don’t hold grudges. They don’t reach the park and think, “You left me alone earlier, so forget about me fetching that ball.” They simply let go and dive into the moment, chasing joy in every treat, toy, and belly rub.
In a time when trust feels rare and uncertainty looms, their simplicity is refreshing. Dogs don’t care about agendas or opinions—they just love us, loyally and completely.
Pets as the Ultimate Comfort
It’s no wonder so many people got pets post-COVID. In a world divided and uncertain, dogs give us something true, unconditional love. They don’t ask for much beyond love, and they give it back tenfold, grounding us when life feels anything but stable.
Maybe we can learn from them. We can look beyond what we’re told and see the world through our own eyes. We can reconnect with neighbors and remember that trust and goodness can still be found around us.
This Thanksgiving, Let’s Take a Page from Our Dogs’ Book
Thanksgiving is a great time to take a lesson from our pets: focus on what’s real and close—family, friends. It's the small things, even something as small (but helpful) as a holder for bags of poop - who wants to hold that?
Join the Let-Go of S#*t Movement
This season, let’s focus on letting go of the clutter, literal and mental. Meditate, and when you go for a walk, free your mind of looking for trash, and your hand from holding it with the dooloop. Handle at least that “sh*t” in a way that’s convenient, eco-friendly, and frees you to be in the moment with your dog.
A note on the Dooloop: It’s the original invention, designed to handle leash chaos and manufactured sustainably and ethically in the USA. I’m grateful to everyone who has supported this journey and believed in a simple solution for dog owners everywhere.
Let’s commit to leaving less mess in our wake, one walk at a time.
